Anytime there’s a platter of seafood, the first thing I go for is shrimp! Yeah, I know, you probably thought lobster or Alaskan crab, but nope, I’m a simple gal who loves her shrimp!
You can’t go wrong with shrimp because it’s healthy and filled with essential minerals and vitamins that make me feel confident about my health! Yes, you may know it for its protein, which is what I need whenever I work out my arms and legs, but did you know it has other great stuff like selenium (good for the heart and immune system) and iodine (good for your thyroid)? I also eat shrimp along with salmon because it has essential nutrients like vitamin B12, zinc, and omega-3, which are great for the brain.
One specific reason why I enjoy eating shrimp is for its antioxidant called astaxanthin. I’ve done so much research on skin, and I know it’s good for that specific organ. I especially enjoy it during the summertime because this antioxidant can help protect me from the harmful UV rays that cause skin aging. Aside from skin and beauty benefits, I love shrimp whether it’s steamed, boiled, or grilled—I can’t help but love the taste!
