They have Meatless Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, and with Burger King’s Whopper Wednesdays—what if they had Salad Sundays and Salad Saturdays? Oh, I don’t think that sounds very appetizing, especially for a weekend meal, right?
Jokes aside, I do love salads. They make me feel more refreshed, like I’m giving my body a detox.
People might think salads are only for when you’re trying to be healthy or lose some fat, but no—that’s not true. It’s not true that salads are the most boring and not-so-delicious things in the world. Salads can actually be very delicious, depending on who makes them, and they can be healthy too—as long as you don’t load them up with bad creamy sauces. It’s all about striking a balance.
One of my favorite salads is chickpeas with quinoa and some sliced grilled chicken breast. When you add some healthy creamy dressing on it, it tastes amazing. It’s so heavenly that you won’t even feel like you’re eating a salad.
Other salads I really enjoy are vinaigrette ones with leafy greens like arugula, baby spinach, lettuce, and the like, mixed with strawberries, blueberries, and all the other berries. Berries are full of antioxidants, and pairing them with a protein I love—whether it’s beef strips, chicken strips, or even salmon—is so delicious. Especially when you make your own honey mustard Dijon-style homemade sauce. I’m always craving seconds!
As you can see, there are so many salads out there, and you can pair them with any type of green vegetable, berries, and protein that you love. Even if you’re vegan or vegetarian, you can skip the meat and load it up with chickpeas, beans, or even tofu—you’ll be amazed at how tasty it is. If you have a vegetarian taco, you could add boiled eggs or fry them and mix it with kimchi. There are so many ways to do this.
As you can tell, I’m just imagining all the different foods you can combine—and that’s why I decided to gather up the most famous and tasty salad recipes for you to try. You can mix and match, or follow the exact recipes. Tweak them to your liking or diet restrictions if you have any.
My go-to meats are usually salmon or grass-fed extra lean beef, but that’s just me. If I’m feeling a little naughty, I’ll treat myself to steak or a fish-and-chips-style topping with my salad—it’s pretty delicious.
Well, let me know what you think. I want to know what type of salads you like, how you make yours, and whether you have a secret ingredient or special sauce you love to top your salads with.
When I’m just on the go and trying to avoid junk food, I’ll just top it with olive oil and some lemon, and mix it with kimchi. But if I’m having a cheat day, I’ll go for a Caesar and just go all out—or I’ll go for something like a poppy lemon seed dressing. It’s so creamy and tasty.
Anyways, enough of my rambling—here are the best salad recipes that you should try.
