Ek, when I first walked into my basement, it looked more like a dumping ground than a part of my house. Probably somewhere I could hibernate when it’s raining cats and dogs, with thunder and lightning that’s downright scary. So maybe good for that. But besides that, it was filled with what most people would call junk: old holiday décor I swore I’d use ten years ago but never opened (hit my head), unused gym gear (hit my head again), and half-empty paint cans stacked everywhere. Even unused kitchenware and clothing from a decade ago had made their way down there.

Once I realized how much space was going to waste, I decided to declutter and sell some things. But many items felt nostalgic, and I couldn’t let go because they carried memories of my past. That’s when I started rethinking storage ideas.
