Hi there!
My name is Bee.
You can call me sweet “Bee” 🐝 — that’s what half my friends call me along with many other funky nicknames. 🙂
I started this blog to share my best personal finance tips with you.
With a genuine interest in personal finance, I pursued a degree in finance and have been working in the financial sector for many years.
What most people don’t know is that building a healthy relationship with your money involves more than just your knowledge about “money and finance.”
How we handle and manage our money is usually stemmed from our feelings, emotions, and past experiences. With that said, simply following the theories, concepts, and “rational” advice from a finance book may not always work in real life for everyone. Yep, that includes me.
Based on my first $10,000 in savings, I can tell you for a fact that I actually learned the most from my family’s financial hardships and personal experiences. These were all very important life lessons in my financial journey that I would love to share with you on this blog.
How can I help and add value?
Whether you’re in debt, living paycheck to paycheck or aiming to improve your financial situation, I’m here to share with you my personal experience and give you my best tips on how to save money.
Along with that, I’d like to focus on sharing legitimate ways to make extra money and tips on how you can increase your income.
Don’t get me wrong. Finding ways to save money is important and it’s a great start for beginners like you!
Finding ways to save money challenged me to live frugally (in areas that aren’t as important to me) so I could sock away money for my future. However, it got to the point where I realized that I could only save so much without having to cut back on the things I enjoy in life.
For example, no matter how hard I tried, I knew deep inside that there was NO way I was going to give up on my favorite beauty products, Starbucks, dining out with friends, buying better ingredients for my healthy meals, or going on annual vacations.
I’m all up for saving money by finding deals, increasing my income, and cutting my spending on things that don’t add value to my life.
There’s more to just “saving money”
Being more flexible and open to other wealth-building advice helped me reach my first $100,000 in my savings and investing account while I was still in my 20s.
My aim isn’t to become filthy rich but I know that living with a limited and scarce mindset isn’t going to help me or my family.
That’s when I started to look for creative ways to make more money, hence my tagline “money is sweet like honey”.
Making extra money and increasing my income definitely allowed me to have a more flexible budget and live the life I want! By increasing my overall income, I was able to increase my savings plus spend more on things that make me happy.
Building wealth is not easy
I have to admit that neither saving money or making more money was easy. They both have their challenges, pros, and cons.
Not to mention, there were times in the past where I didn’t know how to control my spending on unnecessary things.
It took me many years of trial and error to realize what was the best fit for me, and this is what I realized…
The key to being happy is finding a good balance between saving, earning and spending — this allows for a more meaningful and purposeful life without going extreme on either end.
I’m here to help you find that right balance.
There’s no need to scrimp and hoard every penny at the expense of having fun today. At the same time, you also don’t want to “YOLO” 100% and spend every penny (potentially getting you into debt) at the expense of your future or retirement.
I’m not going to tell you that building wealth is easy because it’s not. Life is tough and there will be moments where it stings A LOT.
Ever got stung by a bee? Ouch!
Yeah, it happens.
But with a bit of work and effort, you’ll manage to get through and reduce your financial stress.
Come and follow me on my financial journey.
I want to help you accumulate a stack of honey (or money) so you can live your sweetest life. My overall goal is to turn you into a savvy money bee so you can reach financial freedom sooner than later.
